This morning I finished teaching the book of Hebrews at our church. When I discussed verse seven, I mentioned “my missionaries”–Ray and Char Hauser. They serve with Cadence International, a ministry whose aim is to evangelize and encourage members of the United States military and their families. While I was stationed at Misawa Air Base in Northern Japan, Ray and Char lived just off base with their son, Michael. Over a period of eighteen months, both Ray and Char taught and lived God’s Word during formal and informal times. Hebrews 13:7 reads, “Remember those who led you, who spoke the Word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.” This down-to-earth couple with heavenly aspirations spoke the Word of God to me. They also “walked the talk.” They were authentic disciples of Jesus Christ on a mission to fulfill the “great commission” (Mt. 28:18-20). Those are footsteps I want to walk in! Think about your own experience. Does a name come to mind–someone who regularly spoke the Word of God to you and who truly tried to walk obediently to the commands of God? If you think of someone, thank God for them. And–if they are still living–thank them! Finally, let’s be teachers and livers of the Bible! Thank God today for giants’ footsteps. Let’s leave some ourselves!
