April in Japan

I spent two Aprils in Northern Japan. From 1985-1987, I was stationed at Misawa Air Base in the Aomori Prefecture. The location in the northern hemisphere matched that of upstate New York. Winter provided ample amounts of snow, more snow than I was accustomed to growing up in Wisconsin. 

April was a welcome site.

By the end of April, the temps were rising into the 50’s, the snow was beginning to melt in the mountains north of base and the cherry trees were beginning to bloom. 

I enjoyed those two beautiful springs.
